Information for patients
We would be very grateful for your help with this study. You may have ideas and experiences which would be extremely valuable to us. We are asking patients who have had GP appointments for a mental health problem, that is NOT a psychotic disorder to take part in this study.
We have developed a way to help GPs detect the early warning signs of psychosis, called P Risk. People who develop psychosis do much better if they are offered specialist treatment as quickly as possible. However, it is difficult to identify the early symptoms of psychosis as they can occur in other mental illnesses, such as depression. Therefore, we have created a tool, called P risk, which aims to help GPs identify people who are at risk of developing psychosis, and refer them for specialist assessment. This tool uses information held in GPs’ electronic databases, such as previous GP appointments for depression, anxiety, sleep problems, sex or gender.
As part of this study we are interviewing GPs, mental health staff, patients and carers to explore their views of using this tool in primary care services.
Patients who agree to participate in this study will be asked to take part in a group discussion with four other people. The meeting will be held online and will take approximately one hour.
Patients will receive a £25 shopping voucher to thank you for their time.
For further information about taking part, please read the Patient Information Sheet.
If you would like to hear more, or are interested in taking part please fill in the Expression of Interest (EoI) form and email it to Daniela Strelchuk at daniela.strelchuk@bristol.ac.uk. If you have difficulties filling in the form electronically, please email Daniela specifying your name, sex, age and ethnicity. This information will be used to sample individuals for the interview.
